Sepia Tilda

** UPDATE**
This design made it into the Top 3 over at Pile It On Challenges :)
Thank you to the design team :)

Hi everyone :)

How are we all today?  Are you looking forward to the weekend?  What have you got planned?

My Daughter, Zoe, is home from school today as she has got a cold.  She is ok but I just like to keep her home as her diabetes sugar levels seem to play up when she is feeling poorly.  However, she can't be feeling too bad cos' she has cleaned up her bedroom & is now going from room to room picking up & putting away things as she goes lol.  Now she is making me cheese on toast lol.  Hmmm, I think something is happening that I don't know about lol.

I finished my design last night but obviously had to wait till daylight to take photo's of it :)  After editing them, I seriously want to get a new camera.  After going to see other people's wonderful creations on their blogs, the quality of their photo's are heaps better than mine.  So today, I am going to do some camera research online.  I am hoping to get a new one by next weekend :)

Like I mentioned the other day, this is my first attempt at colouring an image in sepia colours.  It was very different & I kept being tempted to add a different colour.  I am quite happy with it but definately need some practice :)

I used the following Copic colours:

Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, R20
Everything else: E43, 50, 53, 57

Want to pin the Copic colour combo?

It took me quite a while picking out the DP's for this design & it left me quite frustrated that so much time had gone by lol.  So I have written down on my wish list that I want more DP's that would go lovely with vintage / shabby chic / sepia / black & white themes.

Lots of pearls on this design.  I even added some liquid pearls to some of the flowers :)  I love the effect they give :)  I was also able to try a few different techniques too, like inking around the edges of the image & also distressing the papers.  I was really worried about ripping the papers but it didn't happen thank goodness lol.

I was also able to use some of my scraps which has helped me get the pile down a little bit :)  I think the lace has helped 'soften' the design too.  I love working with lace.

I decorated the inside & on both sides this time.

I really enjoyed putting this design together & I'm looking forward to making another like this one.

Another Dreamtime Glimpse of Sepia Tilda

Good morning everyone :)
I hope you're more 'awake' than I am feeling.

I had a bit of a late night last night with having fun creating my upcoming Sepia Tilda design.  I was on a roll.  Everything was going according to plan...then bam!  I got stuck lol.  No matter which way I put this & which way I put that, it just didn't look right.  I'm sure I am not the only one that has this problem...right? lol

I finally went to bed, woke up this morning, very slowly, saw Zoe off to school, looked at my design..then viola!!  I fixed it lol.  All before a cup of coffee :)  Mind you, I haven't adhered 'that part' together yet.  I will do that when I have finished here :)

So do you want a sneak peak of a glimpse?

Not much of a glimpse I know....but hey, this is all I can show you right now ;)

I am really hoping to get it finished by today.  Fingers crossed.
Well, I had better get to it then.  Hadn't I? lol

A reminder that if you would like to enter my giveaway on my Facebook page click here.

Take care everyone.  Have a great day.
I will be back here shortly with my finished Sepia Tilda design :)
See you sooon :)

A Dreamtime Glimpse

Good morning my blog buddies :)
Don't mind me...I'm in a silly mood today.  It must be because it's extremely windy outside ;)

I was pretty busy yesterday.  I wanted to host a giveaway on Dreamtime's Facebook page.  It was my first time but I managed it somehow lol.  I decided to give-away one of my designs but it is one that I did quite some time ago.  Still it is better to give it away than me keeping it in box.

If you haven't come across my Facebook page yet or you would like to enter the give-away click here.

I plan on holding a giveaway each month pending how they go but they will be exclusive to my FB followers.   So if you would like to know when they are happening, don't forget to 'like' Dreamtime Designs.

Anyway, I thought I would also drop in and show you what I am up to with my next design.

I am entering one of the challenges whereby they are asking for a sepia coloured image!  OMGoodness!  I have never done this before lol.  What a challenge for me it was lol.  Here's my attempt ...

You would not believe the hassle I had with choosing the right coloured DP's!  It took me very close to 2 hours! lol  Not happy Jan lol.  However, I think they look pretty cool.  I guess we will see when the design is complete.

I also want to enter the Mojo challenge again with their sketch.  Do you like my rough copy? lol  I always sketch it out & have it at my craft table so that I don't have to keep going back & forth to the pc to look at it.  I used to just print them out but drawing it somehow gets my mojo happening a little better.  Also, I have run out of ink lol.  Gotta get me some :)

Oh oh oh...nearly forgot to tell you.
One of my orders turned up yesterday :)  My wish came true lol.  Here is what I got.

Some more Ranger Distress Inks - Faded Jeans, Victoria Velvet, Aged Mahogany & Black Soot.

Spellbinders Nesties - Cogs (Woo hoo....I can feel more male designs coming on :)

A Viva Pearl Pen.  It's pretty cool.  If you have a look at Tilda's cheeks (above) you will see I have used it on her cheeks :)  It is 'really' easy to use.  Love, love, love it :)

Anyway, I had better go try & start this design otherwise I'm going to be pushed for time again when entering it into the challenge lol.

Thanks for popping over to see me & for all the wonderful comments you have been leaving me.  Oh, & don't forget about the give-away on the Dreamtime Facebook Page.

Take care.
Till next time...

Hugs

Dreamtime Blog Prompt Challenge - Week 2

Good morning :)
I don't know about where you are but the weather here in New South Wales, Australia is quite cold.  I know we don't have snow in this part of the woods (thank goodness) but for our climate, it is cold!  I have had the reverse cycle air conditioner on this morning just to take the chill out of the house.  My fingers are having problems finding the keys on my laptop lol.  Where are my gloves? lol

We are onto week 2 of the blog prompt challenge.
I have added a few more prompts.

I have also added a new tab page that gives more info & rules of the challenges to make it easier to find.  The actual challenge page has been updated with more ideas & details pertaining to each prompt.
Go take a look.  I know they are personally helping me out :)

Thanks everyone.
I hope you all have a great day & lots of creativity happening your side of the world :)

A Birthday Suprise

Hi everyone & a special welcome to all my new followers.
Thank you to all of you for coming to see me & also a massive thank you to all the wonderful comments that you have been leaving me :)  I totally appreciate it & it makes all this blogging worthwhile lol.

I am running a bit behind today.  I have SO much to do, so I am going to be a busy little bee :)  It has been raining here all weekend so it has been nice staying inside & creating my new design.

I decided to follow this sketch at Mojo Monday.  Hopefully I will have enough time to squeeze it into their challenge.  I only have 1hr 20 mins to make the deadline lol.  Aargh.  Can I do it? lol

This is the sketch:

Here is my design:

As mentioned the other day in my Dreamtime Glimpse, it is a Stampavie stamp by Penny Johnson.  Isn't it cute? :)

I used the following Copic colours:

Skin: E000, 00, 11, 21, R20
Hair: E50, 53, 57
Top & Crown: B000, 00, 02, 05, 93, 95, 97
Dog: E40, 41, 43, 47, 50, 51, 53,
Box: R00, 14, 17, 27, 37, 46
Bow: YR00, 02, 07

Want to pin the Copic colour combo?

I actually used some of my punches that haven't seen the light of day for....oooh...a few years lol.  It was good to get them out again :)

All of the banners are handmade (not using a die) & the balloons gave me such a hard time with trying to tie on the thread. Apart from that it was a breeze easy design to put together.

I decorated the inside this time.

It is a pretty flat design but it has a little dimension :)

A Dreamtime Glimpse

Good morning :)
It's Friday...woo hoo :)

I haven't got anything exciting planned for this weekend.  I'm feeling like I have got a cold coming on.  I keep sneezing & blowing my nose.  I think I might stay inside & keep warm :)  What have you got planned this weekend?

I am moving onto my next design & thought I would show you what I am working on.

A Birthday Suprise

I will be working with a Stampavie - Penny Johnson - stamp called Suprise.
Isn't it cute? :)

The DP's that I will be using are from Cherry Arte - Seasonal Collection.  I have had these for a while so it will be good to finally getting around to using them.

The colour Copics I will be working with are in the YR range.  These will match the DP's quite nicely.  I'm hoping lol.

I will be using the Sketch from Mojo Monday which is their current challenge.  Wanna join me?

If you would like to pin this sketch to your Pinterest board:

This is going to be my first male birthday design so I am looking forward to see it come together.  I will keep you updated with my progress.

Remember this little guy that I was telling you about yesterday?

Well, I rang the vet yesterday afternoon to see how he was going & unfortunately it wasn't good news :(

The vet said that his chest had a big hole in it & it was an old injury.  She said that the food & water that he had been consuming all that time wasn't making it to his stomach.  The water would just seep back out again through the hole.  Can you imagine?  The poor little guy.  Anyway, she said they had to euthanize him.  It was a sad moment for me but at least he isn't in any more pain & went to sleep in a 'nicer' manner.  So R.I.P my little poser.  It was nice meeting you & now I know what a Spotted Dove looks like.

Onto nicer thoughts....

Nearly two weeks ago I made an order over at Scrapyland.  They had a massive clearance sale & I managed to get some really good bargains.  I also went shopping over at Custom Crops for a few things on the same day :)

So I am waiting patiently for the parcels to arrive.  I am getting itchy as I so want to get my hot little hands on them lol.  I really wish they would hurry up & get here.  I am hoping they will get here today so that I can play & use them this weekend :)  Fingers crossed :)

Anyway, I'm off now to spend some time creating my new design :)
Have a great day everyone.  Thank  you for coming to visit :)

An Unexpected Visitor!

Hi everyone,
Wow, am I really posting on my blog the very next day after my last post? lol  Things are looking up :)

Look at this cute little guy...

I found him this morning out in my backyard.  He was huddled between the air conditioner & the outside wall of my house.  I suspected something was wrong or maybe he was just trying to get warm as it is pretty cold here today.

After about an hour or so he came out into the open & I saw the damage to his chest!  Poor little guy.  I tried to get closer to have a better look but of course the closer I got the more he backed off lol.

I went inside, grabbed some bread, a little container of water & of course my camera.  I knew that I could zoom in on him when taking the pics so that I could get a better look at his injury.

He totally devoured the bread & drank heaps of water (the container was full to the brim lol) whilst I was clicking away with the camera sitting on the back step.  He kept cocking his head when he heard the camera click each time I took another photo :)

With each click of the camera the closer he moved towards me.  See how he is puffing out his chest?  I'm sure he's flirting with the camera lol.  Anyway, I could see he was hurt & it looked like he had a pierced hole in his chest.  Poor little thing.

I raced inside, did a Google search & found out he's called a Spotted Dove :)  It's amazing what you can learn each day.  I did another search & rang the local RSPCA.  They wouldn't take him & they gave me four different numbers to call.

All of the wildlife rescue services wouldn't take him due to the fact that he isn't an Australian 'Native'.  So, anyway I didn't give up.  I rang the local vet & she said that she would take him & see what they could do for him.  Thankfully it wouldn't cost me anything due to him being a wild bird.  I mean, he was the one to visit me...not the other way around lol.

Just before I took him to the vet I sat back down on the step again, just watching him & taking more photos. He seemed quite content.  In fact, he got right up close to me & posed for the camera :)

I love the white spots on the back of his neck :)

It came time to get him into a box & take him to the vet.  He didn't like being picked up that's for sure & he tried to get out of the box but eventually he settled down.

When I got him to the vet she told me that she would ring me later to let me know how he is.  I am so hoping he will get better.  I guess we will just have to wait & see.

Till then...if I see a cat, I'm gonna have some personal words to it as I am sure that is how the poor little guy got injured.  Anyway at least the Dove is in safe hands now.

Have you had an experience like this?  What happened?

Thanks so much for visiting & I will be back tomorrow with a sneaky glimpse of the next design I am working on :)  I hope you join me :)

See you then.

Hugs

You Are Amazing - Tilda Scrapbooking Border

Hi to my amazing blog followers :)
It is the middle of the week with not much going on in my little part of the world.  It has been quite cold here with a few patches of rain over the last couple of days but it has been a perfect excuse to sit in my craft studio & have some quiet time with Tilda :)

Actually today, I went & saw a lovely lady named Miranda in regards to me doing the Business Cert. IV course.  I have had a lot of business experience since the year 2000 with having my own small scrapbooking company (well, I say small but I had over 125 ladies working for me worldwide) but never did I have a certificate behind me.  I have many plans for the next 5 years & to have that certificate will just give me that extra added little bit of support :)

So, Miranda is setting me up to do the course, which will be 12 months study but the great thing about it is that I can do it from home (office) via the internet :)  Which means I will still be able to do my crafting & be home for Zoe.  Works well for me :)  I just have to wait till I have been enrolled.  I am excited but nervous at the same time lol.  Maybe Tilda can blow some magic dust my way lol.

This time I decided to make another Scrapbooking pre-made border but I wanted to make her sparkle a little bit so I added some Stardust Stickles here & there.

I coloured Tilda in the following Copic colours:

Skin: E000, 00, 11, 21, R20
Hair: E43, 50, 53, 57
Top: R81, 85, RV10
Pants: G21, 94, 99

Want to pin the Copic colour combo?

I wish I could get the settings on my camera right as the photo's look a bit washed out.  In actual fact, I am hoping to purchase a new camera next month cos' the one I have right now is only 5 pixels.  I saw one in the local catalogue the other week that was 20 pixels!  Wow...is my camera old or what? lol  The trouble is I didn't make note of the brand & can't remember which one it was lol.  Typical.

What sort of camera do you have?  Can you recommend one?

I used a really nice lace & ribbon on this design which I got from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I'm not too sure what the names are due to them coming in one of their monthly ribbon club assortment packs.

I was a member for a while & received a different pack each month which was always a lovely surprise to receive in the mailbox :)  I highly suggest it.  I only stopped my subscription as after 12 months I have ended up with a lot of ribbon lol.  Maybe I will start it up again soon :)

I popped up this design to give it a little bit more dimension & went a little crazy with the pearls but I love the way it turned out.  I only wish the photo's did it more justice.  I will try taking the photo's again tomorrow & hopefully they will look a little bit better.
